Fuse catches up with Amy Lee and Co. backstage at Beale St. Music Festival.

After a five-year break, Little Rock-bred rockers Evanescence are back, and in a big way. Their self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last October, and now they’re on tour of the U.S. Fuse caught up with the quintet backstage at Beale St. Music Fest to chat about their new album and what they have planned next.

“It was received really well,” says Lee of Evanescence. “It was cool coming back like that.” But will fans have to wait five years for the band’s next album? “I don’t think so, of course not,” she says. But then adds, “I feel like everyone should get to a place where you can wait for something to be really good. We’re going to wait to make something really great and inspired, so whenever that is…”

Watch that video above.  Below is a video clip of Evanescence chatting about tailoring their set for different festivals, writing new material on the road, their next single and more!

Frontwoman Amy Lee discusses the meaning behind the band’s latest captivating and imaginative music video.

When Evanescence came through Melbourne during their recent Aussie tour, Amy Lee sat down with NovaFM to discuss the concept behind the U.S. goth rock group’s “My Heart Is Broken” video.

“The inspiration came from, generally speaking, being trapped; being in a situation knowing you need changed and wanting to break free,” she said, backstage at Rod Laver Arena, ahead of the group’s massive gig.

“For the video I wanted to give it its own meaning and own feeling. It’s about creating an imaginary world where you can escape from the pains of life; from the things that are hard to deal with.”

Lee said the harsh reality, and main message of the clip, was that imaginary worlds could never last.

“What I’m trying to say is you have to break back through to reality… It’s better to feel things, even when it’s painful, than to be all by yourself.”
